The Northview Jr Titan Cheerleaders support our middle school teams throughout the fall. Tryouts are typically held in April/May, teams are announced and optional summer practices are held. Once school begins, there are typically 2 practices weekly, plus a Saturday game. The goal each year is to provide a team of girls who will support each of the 3 football teams: 6th, 7th and 8th grade teams. If enrollment doesn't support that many teams, cheering the 8th grade team will take precedence.
Football schedules are determined by many factors, including field availability, referee schedules, and weather. Cheerleaders should expect to cheer at one game each Saturday from roughly August through the end of October, but exact time of that game may be unknown until a few days prior.
Cheerleading can be an expensive sport, although your all-volunteer cheer board does their very best to keep this sport accessible to all girls, and payment plans are available. Please pay careful attention to the estimated costs when completing your registration paperwork.
The Jr Titans had a successful transition year in 2022, moving our middle school competition practices entirely to a local cheer gym. We will continue with this model in 2024.
Parent volunteers are welcomed and at some point, will be required. Each cheer squad formed must have a volunteer coach (parent) to supervise the team at all games. New in 2023, we employed several varsity high school cheerleaders to lead practices during the week as well as attend weekend games to serve as a role model and provide cheer/chant support. It is our intention to continue this format in the 2024 season.
